THE SCIENCE OF FARTS

Farts are totally normal and super funny! But what actually are they? Let’s break it down, Cheeksters!

What Is a Fart?

A fart is just gas escaping from your bottom. Your body makes gas when it digests food and when you swallow air. When there’s too much gas inside… it needs a way out. 💨

Why Do We Fart?

Farting helps your body:

1. Release pressure 2. Get rid of extra air 3.Keep digestion comfy...If you didn’t fart, you’d feel like a balloon ready to pop!

Why Are Some Loud and Some Silent?

This all depends on:

1 How tight your bum cheeks are:))

2. How fast the gas escapes

3. How you’re sitting or standing.

Fast + tight = LOUD 🎺
Slow + relaxed = silent but deadly 😳

Why Do Some Farts Smell?

Only a little bit of your fart smells...that tiny part comes from sulphur gases made when food breaks down. Foods like eggs, broccoli, beans, and onions make stinkier toots!

How Many Times Do We Fart?

Most people fart 5–15 times a day.
Anyone who says they “never fart” is telling porkies!

Termites are the biggest farters in the animal kingdom

Can You Hold in a Fart?

Yes… but it’s not a great idea.

Holding in gas can cause: 1. Stomach ache 2. Pressure 3. More smell later (!)

Your body wants the gas OUT so when it’s time, it’s time.
